Wed April 30th afternoon blog
*LOUD, BOLD, WITH A KICK OF CONTROVERSY*
I'm in a good mood because I have my computer back and kicking. So I decided to write an unprecedented 2nd blog of the day. This has never been done before so sit back and enjoy the show.
-Last night at the Hornet game, I saw my friend eddie ludwig and his mom. The reason I point this out, is that we were in a suite and they were in the first row by the entrances that the players walk through. So to be able to see them from that far really amazes me as I usually can't see to well from distances.
I'd like to give the following shout out to Caroline Wade for reading my blog. You rule. Everyone will get one free shout out when they mention my blog to me, after the first one it cost .99 cents per shout out, alright I'm just being silly/stupid.
Someone yesterday suggested a reunion of some sorts for the 2000 St. George's Class. At first I thought it was a great idea, and on paper it does sound great and fun. But as my brother pointed out, it's not going to be some magical night or something, it's going to be where half the people have acomplished stuff and are cool and half have screwed up. I believe I have access to the cool people and can see them whenever they are in town. That's not to put anyone down, I think it just is how it is. There are quiet a few people from back in the day that I want to see and they know who they are.
Michael B has spoken put your hand on your monitor and pray, amen!
Basketball and Baseball cards

Last night, before the Hornets game I found some of my old cards in a closet. It was really cool looking at them. I always enjoy looking at old sports cards because you make some great finds, usually of players who weren't big names at the time who are now.

One of the cards I had was an autographed Carlos Delgado rookie card. My grandmother Pat bought that for me when she was alive when I visited Jonesboro. I think that make's it 100 times cooler. I've discovered Ebay for cards now, and I see you can buy cards individually of a certain player without having to go through tons of packs of cards. I bought a Mike Dunleavy Jr. Draft day rookie card that I hope to get signed. I'm not into selling these or anything like most people, I just enjoy collecting.

I think a card I don't have that I want to get if there are any, is of my cousin Nate Hobgood-Chittick, he played in parts of 5 NFL seasons usually for a Dick Vermeil coached team. His biggest acomplishments are- Having a rating of something 51 out of 100 in madden 2001, which is almost as low as possible! His other acomplishment is winning a SUPER BOWL RING with the 1999 St. Louis Rams.

some of the cool cards I found were NHL cards with a piece of the jersey on it. THAT is really cool. I know there supposed to be "Game worn" and what really happens is the athlete puts a jersey on at a photo shoot and runs a few laps around the stadium or court to work up a "sweat" then they take off the jersey and do it again with another, however I stil think it's a neat idea.

Going to see the Hornets tonight!

Tonight is game 5 of the Hornets-Mavs series. I like the Hornets chances in this one because Chris Paul won't have 2 bad games in a row. Jason Kidd is a thug who punched his wife and tried to break Pargo's neck. I can't wait to see him get OWNED by Chris Paul. He was a terrible pickup by the Mavs. If they hadn't gotten rid of 5 players point guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop, swingman Trenton Hassell, guard Maurice Ager, Van Horn via sign-and-trade, first-round draft picks this June and in 2010 and $3 million in cash, they would have a better chance at winning.

Kidd is old and can't keep up with Chris Paul. Devin Harris and Diop would have matched up better on defense against the Hornets. So they gave up there future and have no cap space and they are stuck with kidd. I think it's dumb to give up multiple 1st round draft picks.

Here is the youtube video of the day, maybe the greatest one ever.... John Daly without a shirt on! ha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6HXfA__e14&feature=bz302

DAY 3 of my computer not working.... Its going into the shop to be fixed. I have trouble waiting for things like this, so it's hard on me. I just have to tell myself that it's going to fixed and I just have to be patient. Not easy at all though.

I have to go now to see the Horneys but tomorrow I will talk about finding my old baseball cards.

I had my blog written out. 4 paragraphs and then I clicked "check mail" on aim and it pulled up the mail and closed this screen for my blog. I can't tell you how annoying that is. This happens to me all the time. Because of this I'm going to keep it short today. I realize this isn't really the best writing I can do it's just hard to do it when the computer is so slow. It's like puting in the backup QB or something.

me at 275 pounds. I'm currently at 214. this was late december 2006. I don't look like the same person.

-I had my third cochlear implant mapping. I feel like I can hear better then ever. People who have been around me lately know I'm doing much better then pre-surgery. Hearing with the Cochlear implant+ hearing aid is around 80 percent I believe.
-It's amazing to me when I look back and think about how I got around in those days. I missed out on a lot of stuff over the years simply from not being able to hear. That is in the past and You cannot go back and change it and always must be thinking ahead.

UPDATE: SUNDAY April 27 draft day 2

This blog came out a little later then usual. I'm having problems with my computer I normally right my blog on, since the electricy briefly went out. It won't start up. I'm going to get it fixed sometime this week but until then I have to use my other computer which is kind of a pain.

-I played golf for one hole today before it started to rain. That was dissapointing. I was really looking forward to it. I've been carrying around this Hornet's bag full of golf balls. I must have about 50 of them in the bag.

-I cleaned out my cabinet of video game machines. I threw out my old dreamcast that doesn't work anymore. I can't tell you how painful it is to realize I won't be able to play Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for a while. That's one of the best games ever IMO. I'm going to sell my dreamcast games on ebay as well as my old wrestling figures from when I watched it. (I have so much junk)

A few random things before I post this- Richard is going to be in town from the 7th-11th of may for anyone who wants to see him. I made a picture of Chris Riess, Tricia and me and framed it on the wall. It's our "Trophy" for winning the 2007 Newman Fantasy football league. With my Computer not working for a few days I wonder how I will make it with no baseball mogul 2k9 and no Civilization 4: beyond the swords for a while.

Books I am reading right now

Retribution- This is a great world war 2 book about the final year of combat between the USA and Japan between 1944-1945. It is one of the better WW2 books I have ever read. It explains how the US was much better equipped to handle a long war then the Japanese. One of the Under rated things that was crucial to the american victory in Japan was the blockade of merchant ships from being able to get into Japan. It goes into detail about that. ***** STARS

Browns Town 1964- This is the story of the 1964 NFL champion Cleveland Browns. They had great players like Jim Brown. What I thought was really interesting was the coach of the browns during that year had a hearing loss similar to mine before surgery and still coached them to a championship. I have no idea how anyone could do that.

Earl Weaver on strategy- This is a pretty cool book where Earl Weaver the legendary baseball manager explains strategy in an easy to understand way and he talks about how he did things and why he always played for the 3 run homer and thought bunting was a waste of an out. He had an excellent record with pitchers coaching something like 11 pitchers who had 20 game win seasons. I think it was neat how he talked about one year to save money they split the playing time between 3 left fielders who combined for as many homers as reggie jackson (37) so it was like having an all star player at the fraction of the cost.

Michael's 2008 Mock draft

Here are my predictions for the NFL Draft this sunday. This is how I think it will be in the first round.

  1. 1. Jake long dolphins OL they've signed him already, i think its a terrible move giving a 30 million bonus to a linemen.
  2. 2. Chris Long DE rams future pro bowler
  3. 3. Falcons DT Glen Dorsey I would like to see him in black and gold but the Falcons wouldn't trade him to the Saints.
  4. Raiders- Darren Mcfadden RB arkansas the best player overall
  5. 5. Kansas City- Vernon Gholston DE/OLB need a DE after trading Pro bowler Jared Allen
  6. . Jets- Matt ryan QB boston college The Jets would be thrilled if Ryan is still on the board.
  7. Patriots- Keith Rivers OLB patriots LB's are getting old.
  8. Baltimore Ravens Sedrick Ellis DT I could see them trading up maybe with Atlanta to get Matt Ryan since they need a QB after Mcnair retired.
  9. Bengals- Ryan Clady OT
  10. New Orleans- Mike Jenkins CB a risky pick but the Saints need a corner badly
  11. Buffalo Bills- Devin Thomas WR this is a little high but the Bills are weak at WR
  12. Broncos- Brendan Albert OT/G
  13. Panthers- Derrick harvey- DE
  14. Bears- Joe Flacco QB they desperately need a qb
  15. Lions- Rashard Mendenhall RB they are taking a rb for sure
  16. cards- Aqib Talib cb They could also go WR if they trade Boldin.
  17. KC- Chris williams OT vanderbilt
  18. texans- Leodis Mckelvin CB
  19. eagles- Dominique Rodgers- Cromartie CB
  20. . Bucs- Limas Sweed WR Joey galloway is 36 so they need to draft a wr.

Tricia "Pat" Boh
I wanted to write about a special memory about my sister. I've written about my brother Richard now its her turn. Tricia was born on January 20th 1992. I was six at the time. It was great having a baby sister. This picture is of me holding her for the first time.
I can still remember that day like it was yesterday. I remember getting to school and knowing it could be any minute that I would get the call. I was at St. George's and got the call I think around 10:30. I remember my dad telling me that I had a new sister. It was one of the best moments of my life. Everyone was happy for our family.
Later that day before going to the hospital, for some reason we dicided to go to Toys R' US and my dad bought me the game "Mega Man 3" which I had until it got lost after Katrina. I don't know why I still remember getting it. I guess my dad wanted Richard and me to have something to do because they were so busy with T.
Then I remember walking into the hospital and going up and seeing my mom holding Tricia in her arms. It was a beutiful sight. Then she let me climb up on the bed and we both held her. (see pic) It was such a great feeling I didn't want to let go. I was just really happy to have a sister, I wasn't like jealous or anything. I hope this doesn't embarrass T when she reads it but I just had to mention this. She is really special and I think about her all the time when She is away from home at Western Reserve.

Picc Line out- On with life
I got my picc line removed from my arm today. This is the end of iv's for a long time, I hope. I really was getting tired of it after a while. It would hurt when they would take the dressing (tape) off of it to clean the wound. But it's over, and I'm feeling better then ever. I hope it last. It feels so nice to be able to stick my arm out straight. The first thing I am doing tomorrow is taking a shower so I can get that hospital feeling out....Well i have taken bath's but you get the idea.
I haven't done any school work the last 2-3 days because I was just feeling tired from being on so much medicine which was making me wakeup in the night up to 4 times. But I am going to start again tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to it. I'm going to go bowling tomorrow.
I went to the Arena last night to watch the Hornets play. I've never been to a basketball game before where the crowd was that into it. It was amazing, since most basketball crowds aren't that into it, at least the ones you see on tv because the people who get the good seats aren't usually the "real fans." Chris Paul is the best point guard I've seen since I started watching the NBA during the 1992-93 season when I was 7. Watching the Hornets is so fun, I hadn't had the chance to see them this season because I have Directv and you only get there games on Cox digital cable. But I'll have to switch for next year.

Goals I want to acomplish by Nov 2009

I was thinking last night, now that I'm getting better at hearing each day and am able to do a lot more for myself, what do I want to do when I get off the IV tomorrow? I want to know what Do I want to do a year from now, and what I'm going to be doing in Nov 2009 when I turn 24.

1. After I go through all the coculear implant mappings I would like to learn how to drive. This is something that I hadn't been able to do in the past. I tried getting a license when I was 16 and came just short of being able to get one. It was just really hard not being able to hear all the way when you drive. So, I'm going to give it another shot sometime this summer. I would really really like to just be able to go where I want instead of having to get a ride.

2. Keep doing school work year round to make it go faster. The only significant time I plan to take off is when we go to Ohio. I also want to do more by myself, that's why I'm setting these goals. I want to be able to get below 200 in weight. I think I can do that. It won't be easy but i'm nearly 210 right now and have lost about 65 pounds in about 16 months.

3. Here's my long term goal, I'm not sure how I would pull it off but i've been thinking about it a lot. I would like to live on my own at some point. I'm aiming for it to be before I turn 24 in 09, not to put pressure on myself but come on its really something I need to do. The thing stopping me the most is that when I take my hearing aids off at night, I have no hearing. My dad was able to put my IVs on without waking me. Thats kind of scary. So it would be hard to settle down. I'm trying to come up with an answer for that.

Anyone with an idea how I could live on my own with the hearing issue please leave a comment. This would only come after I could drive.
I don't think these 3 things are to much for me. The third one will be a little tricky and I'm not quiet ready for it but I will someday soon.

My brother Richard
I realized I haven't written about my brother Richard yet. He is truely a special person. We used to not get along as well as we do now when we were in our teens because we are very different. He was my first friend and I really have happy memories of us when we played Nintendo. Our favorite games were Ninja Turtles and Mario 3.
I think once he started school at Country Day and I was at St. George's we kind of broke off for a while. He was interested in riding horses and I was interested in sports like football, basketball, baseball so we didn't have really anything we shared. I think for him, he felt guilty about me having Cystic fibrosis like it was his fault but it wasn't. I know he and Tricia had a tougher time with that then I did.
I didn't notice how much he cared about me for a long time until My mom told me how he would check in every day on my health. That is so thoughtful of him. I consider us friends now, writing to each other on facebook really helped that. He is at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL and doing really well in school so i'm proud of him for that. It looks like he will move back to New Orleans after college, I really look forward to that.
I'm getting my pic line out on wednesday

Life of Boh: Sunday Edition

This is a picture of a t-shirt made for Cubs OF Kosuke Fukudome. He is japanese. Notice the slanted eyes in this t-shirt. This kind of stuff makes me laugh. i think horry kow! is japanese for Harry Carry the old cubs announcer.

Some people were complaining this is offensive to "orientals" as Bill Parcells would call them, but I don't think it is. You can't get offended by everything. I know not every "oriental" is like that. I just find it really clever.

The Hornets really played well in the second half. They just dominated completely. Chris Paul really played good scoring 35 points, 10 assist, 4 steals and only 1 turnover. Here's something that is amazing- For the first 23:02 minutes of the 2nd half Chris Paul had 24 points and 7 assist which led to 38 points- the mavs only had 24 total during that time. So chris paul 38-mavs 24. I am going to game 2 and I am calling it right here, Hornets will win by 15 points.
Fianally- I've been wanting to talk about something I did the other day that was really stupid, I bid on something on ebay not thinking I was going to win. Yes, I know that is really "STUPIT" (i used to spell it like that) And I ended up winning it and having to pay for it. That will neeeever eeeeeeever gonna happen again!

Reviews of my favorite sites

Netflix- I like netflix a lot. I rent all my dvds from them. They are an online service which you subscribe to and they send you dvds in the mail. they have something like 6,000 movies to chose from, and they now have blue ray disc (i got to get one of those) The thing that is great about it unlike other rental services is that the shipping place is near New Orleans, so i get new dvds every other day. I wasn't a big movie watcher before my brother showed me this site. I have over 200 movies in my list that haven't been sent. I think it could take a year to go through them all, or as Chris Riess told me while I was in the hospital "You'll be dead before you go through them all" That really made me laugh. I give it a 10/10

Gamefly- I used to rent video games online from here. I stopped because It would take to long for the games to get here. They only have two factorys to ship the games from, one in Cali and one in Pittsburgh. So it took about 3 days and that was to long. And it cost 22.99 to per month. Not a good deal at all. Boh rating- 5/10

i tunes- I've just started liking to listen to music. Before my cochlear implant I really couldn't understand the song lyrics for most songs. I don't mind paying the low price for each song. Its fair enough. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should listen to please leave a coment and I will check it out. rating- 9/10

Gametap- I have not played it much recently. This thing is awesome when you have a friend over. It is an online service that has about 1,000 games that you pay 9.99 per month for. It has all the old sega systems on it and old arcade games as well as some pc games. This is where I got addicted to Civilization IV. I like playing old games like sonic the hedgehog on it. rating- 8/10

Trip to Ohio,Cleveland,Canton

I found out yesterday that I will be going to Cleveland in late May to visit My dearest Sister Pat. She goes to school outside of Cleveland in H-----, Ohio (i'm not saying where in case any creepy people read this)

Me, My mom and my dad will be going to the Jake, or whatever they call it now to watch the Cleveland Indians game. I've always wanted to go there since I've always liked the Indians, even though my fav team is the Yankees. The last game I went to was an Astros game at Minute Made with my family.

After we go to the game we will visit Tricia and her school. I'm really excited to see it since its nicer then some colleges. After that my dad and I will make the 1 hour drive down to where the National Football League was born back in 1920 in Canton Ohio. We will visit the Pro football HALL OF Fame. I really am excited about that. I've been to The hockey hall of fame in toronto, I've been to the baseball hall of fame in cooperstown, ny (awesome place) but this will be even better because football is my favorite sport.

This will be my first trip with my cochlear implant so going to the airport will be different. I have to show them something to prove I have a cochlear implant because it would set off security will it being made out of metal.

What I'm playing- current video games
1. CIVILIZATION 4: BEYOND THE SWORD- http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/beyondthesword/ i'm playing a world war 2 scenario, I'm italy and i'm currently taking over southern france. I cheat by making Italy way stronger then they actually were but it would be to hard otherwise. I just like screwing around in it. Like setting off 50 nukes at the same time and causing global warming from the pollution. It thinks its funny in the game how the first country to invent the internet gets a picture of Al gore on the screen. i like games that aren't serious.

2. Super Smash Bros Brawl- This is the reason to own a nintendo wii. This will keep you busy for months to come. The game is simple- its a fighting game where you take 30+ nintendo characters and have 4 of them fight at a time. Sometimes I wonder why I still play video games and this is one of the reasons to keep playing. Oh and I can beat chris riess and ross parkerson any time.
3. NHL '96 (super nintendo) The other day I found my old super nintendo, a system so old its older then pretty much anyone from the newman fantasy football league in 2007. 1992 is when I got it. So I put in my old fav game NHL '96 play it on the big screen...wow it looks so much better then the 12 inch tv. I am unbeatable in this game, seriously....my all time record (it keeps track) is 244-0 losses- 1 tie.....To this day I still think about that game where it was a tie. The person I played against, I think it was Ross, was stalling and playing it safe and not trying to score but to keep the puck away. I don't watch hockey or follow it but I LOVE HOCKEY video games. If anyone wants to play me in this for money I say bring it on.
Baseball Mogul 2008- www.Sportsmogul.com this game is awesome, i buy it every year. Now if only I could get time to play it....
I'm going to sell a lot of my games someday in the near future when i buy a car. i can easily get maybe $7,000.

BYU- It's a challenge

I've started taken online courses from BYU. It was my friend Marissa who gave me the idea to do online courses. I was in the hospital and I showed her my facebook page where I had listed my college on there as "none 05" - like Kevin Garnett,Tracy Mcgrady and Kobe Bryant. And that was pretty funny, and she gave me the idea about online courses. See, I thought you had to do like 5 courses at the same time and that would have been to much work for.

I get tired from doing to much work, So its good for me to have a light load. I'm taking two courses right now, Nutrition and Bowling. They are both much harder then I expected. See its not like when I did high school courses online from Abbington Hill (about the easiest HS on earth..) I would barely look over some of the notes like for 5 minutes before taking a test. And I usually was getting 85 or above. I would do an entire lesson then the test and one day. In one of the years I actually finished the entire history course for the year in 2 months. So it was easy.

This is more challenging and on my first test I tried rushing through it barely looking at my notes and got a 40....IN BOWLING...... I was stunned. But I've learned something, you need to study for test and not try to rush to far ahead in a short period of time. For each course you have 365 days to complete. Now I would like to go faster then that, espcially in Bowling but it tells me not to hurry things, wait until you know the stuff.

THE PICC LINE and NEWMAN BASEBALL
This thing in my arm Is called a PICC line. I had it put in the day I left the hospital so I can do home IV's. It stays in your arm for 3 weeks. I've had it in for 10 days so far. I cannot wait until I get it out so I can Play golf and go bowling.

I haven't been able to take a shower since having it on. and taking a bath with it is a real production. I'm going to be taking a bath later today though, I haven't washed my hair since saturday! Can you believe that?

This is my 8th time I've had to have a PICC line. So that's 24 weeks of my life with one in! I'm ok though since it doesn't hurt. There is a weird feeling when the IV gets flushed out and you feeling a cold feeling in your arm. I have to do the IV at 2:00 pm, 9:00 pm, and 5:00 am in the morning. It's really annoying to have to wake up at 5:00 but sometimes I don't even wake up when my dad puts it in.

Some short thoughts- I am really glad the Saints brought back Deuce Mccalister for the next season. He is my all-time favorite Saints player. I got to meet him at the Saints facility once. I'll write about that sometime. Also I went to a Newman-John Curtis baseball game to support my friend Chris Riess. He had a double and a hit while I was at the game. Pretty good considering Curtis has players my age (22) who have been held back 5 years in a row.

How I became a FANTASY FOOTBALL Genius

It is not easy to become a fantasy football genius. You must make great trades, know which free agents to pick up, and who know who is the person in the league with the least football knowledge. Then you need a lot of luck.

In the 2007 Newman fantasy football league I was asked by Chris Riess to help save him after he had a bad draft. Chris made up for it by making some great trades later but that would be months away. With my insightful knowledge the first guy i picked up was Wes Welker as a FA. He was unknown at the time and would end up the season with 110 catches. I knew he would be good. I'm not going to get into why he wasn't on our opening day roster and a washed up peerless price who broke his neck 3 games into the year was.

In the end we made the one of the best trades in Fantasy football history and over came the odds as we were the number 6 team out of 6 in the playoffs. The key was stealing randy moss from will bryan for Brett Farve. Brett didn't put up big numbers during the last few games like he had all year. Then in the playoffs we got lucky facing teams who were resting there starters like LT.

I will never forget that season of watching endless hours of football with chris. it was truely a special time.

1998 Liberty Bowl
Tulane 41 - BYU 27
Dec. 31, 1998
Tulane goes 12-0!!!!!!!!
The 1998 Tulane Greenwave Football team will always be my sports team. Even if the Hornets win the championship this year, or the saints win the super bowl one of these years.
The reason that team is really special to me is they helped me get through the toughest time of my life right after i was diagnosed with CF, because they gave me something to look forward to each week. It was so fun going to the games with my dad and grandfather that year, I'll never forget it. It made you forget what was going on in real life.
I Was in quiet a state of shock after being diagnosed with cf in october of 1998.
At that time they didn't have all the medicines they have now, the average life span was only 24.4 years old. Now, the average life span is 37 years old BUT its obviously going to keep going up.
Week after week Tulane was hanging half a hundred on teams. It was unreal. really. They had never been that good and they will never be that good again. I know you really shouldn't say never but I Can promise you, THAT will NEEEVER EEEEVER Happen again.
The end of the year, We drove up to memphis to go to the Libery Bowl where 11-0 tulane was going to beat BYU and go down in history and they did. That trip has special meaning not just because tulane went undefeated but we went to arkansas after the game to visit my grandparents and that was the last time i saw my grandmother pat before she died of cancer. I miss her. I still can't believe that tulane ever went undefeated 10 years later. 10 years later i'm taking college courses at BYU. after 1998 things became the usual again with tulane becoming TWO-LANE because thats how many games they would win. But for that one year they played like nothing we had seen before.

Coculear Implant

It took me a few weeks to get used to my coculear implant that i had put in on febuary 4th 2008 and turned on the following month, but after being in the hospital a week I can hear pretty much anything except hearing on the phone. That's the next step that I think i will be able to do after my next coculear implant mapping where they adjust the setting. It will be the third out of five.

Someone asked me yesterday, "When was the first time you can remember having a conversation with someone and was able to hear every word."

For me that time was over spring break when I went to a Dr. Suess movie with my friends hallie and marissa. I was in line to get food then Hallie started talking to me and i was able to hear everything when I wasn't expecting to. That was really the first time i heard everything someone was saying. This was only last month, but I really didn't know how to listen to people yet from not doing it since i was 14 when my hearing started to decline. So it was pretty cool.

4/11/08

4/11-08 I started my online courses from BYU today. My two courses are Nutrition...it looks hard, and Bowling.... I thought that would be but its not. you have to learn how to bowl, study the sports history. they actually grade you on what you shoot after you've played all 23 games required. i've never bowled really except a few times. Its interesting though.

I'm 22 and actually have never took college courses. I was about to sign up right before hurricane katrina but after it things were kind of weird for a while and i forgot about it.
